ACTIVITIES

~ sunset on Steamboat Lake ~

We have three beautiful lakes within a few miles to the north.  All require admission fees. Steamboat Lake has boat and canoe rentals, a swimming beach and a marina. For more info on Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, Hahn's Peak Lake and other area lakes visit Wildernet (wildernet.com -> Colorado -> Routt)

Backdoor Sports - Located along the river in downtown Steamboat.  Rent an inner-tube and float down the Yampa River!  Or learn how to navigate a Kayak!  Rent sports equipment.

The Howler Alpine Slide - In the summer you can ride the chair lift up to the top, then howl down the 2400 foot slide. Located on on Howelson Hill. (970-871-1104)

Hahn's Peak Village - Here you can see many original miner's cabins.  If someone is in the little shop, 'Things and Stuff', they'll usually give you the key so you can look inside the old Hahn's Peak School or the old jail.

Del's Triangle 3 Ranch - horseback riding

Steamboat Lake Outfitters - restaurant, snowmobile rentals, ATV tours, horseback riding, and more

We have two wonderful hot springs:

The Old Town Hot Springs in downtown Steamboat is great year-round with hot springs, swimming pools, workout rooms, cafe, etc.  It's very convenient and relaxing after a day of skiing.  I especially like to come here in the summer with my grandkids because of the swimming pools and slides.

My favorite is the Strawberry Park Hot Springs.  I prefer the winter rather than summer, it is one of the most beautiful hot springs in the world.  You do have to have a 4 wheel drive for winter or can get a ride with Sweet Pea Tours.  This place is so fabulous.

Don't miss the Tread of Pioneers Museum in Steamboat.  This delightful museum contains artifacts of the first residents of this area, in addition to an incredible collection of early ski gear.

Of course, there is fabulous downhill skiing in Steamboat in the winter, but don't forget that the lift is open most of the year.  In summer, take a ride to the top for lunch, then ride or hike down.  Mountain bike enthusiasts ride UP and down the ski trails, or for a fee, transport their bike up for the ride down.  In Ski Time Square, there are summer activities for the kids, too.

Take a Hot Air Balloon ride!  There is so much to do all year-round!

DINING

Personal Chef Sharon Ashburn - Let everyone enjoy being on vacation by having your own chef come prepare your meals. She also cleans the kitchen!

If dining out is your preference, we're fortunate to have some great restaurants and deli's nearby.

Hahn's Peak Cafe  - Located about 4 miles to the north, they serve great Mexican food and also have a bar. Be sure to check their live music schedule.

The Clark Store is in a category all its own. It is our everything store - gas, post office, groceries, video rental, ice-cream parlor, library, coffee shop (cappuccino, lattes and espresso, too) great sandwiches made to order, gourmet take-out, bakery, cross-country ski and snowshoe rental, fishing licenses and bait, Godiva chocolates, hand-tied flies, beer and liquor store, maps, hunting supplies - whatever!!

The Glen Eden - good food, great homemade pizza night, burger night, full bar, dinner - sometimes lunch. Every now and then a band plays in the back dining room. Local hang-out, sports channel TV.

Dutch Creek Guest Ranch - Reservations suggested, good food, great lodge-in-the-woods atmosphere, a nice place for a special night, near Steamboat Lake Marina.
